The car in which the German racer won his sixth world title was stunning.

Twice more expensive than expected, the legendary Formula 1 car, in which Michael Schumacher became world champion, was sold at auction.

The Ferrari F2003-GA went under the hammer at Sotheby’s in Geneva.

According to the auction’s official website, a private buyer bought the car that won the German’s sixth world title for 14,630,000 Swiss francs ($14,873,327).

At the same time, it was originally planned to take from 7.6 to 9.6 million dollars for the car. Lot, as it turned out, exceeded expectations almost twice.

Thus, the championship car F2003-GA became the second most expensive car from the F1 world sold at auction, after the Mercedes-Benz W196R, won by Juan Manuel Fangio. A 1954 car sold for $29.6 million at a Bonhams auction in 2013.

It will be remembered that the seven-time champion won the title in 2003 in a bitter struggle with Kimi Raikkonen from McLaren and Juan Pablo Montoya from Williams. The German then scored six victories and got 93 points, which is two points more than the Finnish competitor (91 points). The Colombian finished third with 82 points.
