Elbon: Too bad the team didn’t bring a show car to Las Vegas

Alex Albon was one of those who already visited Las Vegas and participated in the presentation of the Grand Prix that is on the 2023 calendar. At a press conference in Sao Paulo, the Williams rider shared his impressions of the event.

Alex Albon: “The presentation of the Grand Prix, which took place in Las Vegas last weekend, made a strong impression, and the only thing I regretted was that our team didn’t bring a show car there, so I didn’t have fun The fullest. But the event itself went very well.

I was surprised how many people gathered – the audience was the sea! Therefore, we can expect this Grand Prix to be one of the best races next year.

When we talk about expectations for the next stage in Sao Paulo, it is difficult to make predictions, but I think we have reason for cautious optimism. Let’s see how it goes, but my job is somewhat complicated by the fact that I will miss one of the practices: on Saturday, Logan Sargent will drive my car.

Of course this will affect my preparation to some extent, but this weekend it is better to skip the second practice than the first, because the qualifying takes place on Friday. In general, everything should be fine, and really the only thing I’m worried about is what happens when it’s dry on Friday and it rains on Saturday. Then it will be difficult to prepare well for the sprint race, but I predict that it will be fun.

Looking at the season, I can say that the team knows what to work on and what to work on to improve the balance of the car. Throughout the season, both me and my partner were a little annoyed by the fact that the FW44 doesn’t quite live up to our preferences and how it behaves in certain types of corners. But it’s one thing to know what needs repair, and another to actually fix those chassis flaws. In any case, preparations for next year are in full swing and we try not to miss anything when developing a new car.”
