After the home race in Mexico City, Sergio Perez returned to second place in the individual standings, five points ahead of Charles Leclerc. The Red Bull Racing driver expects to further expand the lead next race weekend in Sao Paulo.
Sergio Pérez: “This weekend I’m wearing a special helmet coloring – we have a partnership with Disney, so my helmet will be painted in the colors of the Black Panther. The design is unique and I like it a lot.
As for the battle on the track, we want to continue at the same pace as in the previous stages. In Mexico City my result could have been better had it not been for so many problems over the weekend. Hopefully we will have a clean weekend here, avoid problems and show the true pace of the car, as in several previous races.
Sergio evaluated his season as a whole: “The year didn’t start very well – we were plagued with technical problems. In addition, I personally had some not very successful races, which put me out of the title contenders.
I have to work with the team to get more consistency, come back stronger next year and fight for the title from the start if the machine allows it. In any case, it is important to finish the season at the top.”
