Pierre Gasly has already earned ten penalty points and is in a very difficult situation – collecting twelve will give the rider a disqualification for one stage and Pierre’s next points will not run out until May 2023.
At a press conference in Brazil, the AlphaTauri driver said he would discuss the matter with the FIA, as he did not think his actions on track deserved to be disqualified.
Pierre Gasly: “The situation is unpleasant and in some ways even uncomfortable. I don’t feel that my actions were dangerous – the punishment is too severe.
I want to participate in all races with Alpine. It may turn out that in 2023 I have a competitive car at my disposal, behind the wheel of which you can compete for the title. In that case, I don’t want to miss the race.
I will discuss this issue with the FIA to find a solution. The regulations are written very strictly with regard to the racer, and the fine will have very serious consequences. I look forward to further discussions to avoid a stupid disqualification. This is the wrong approach.”
