The Sao Paulo Grand Prix clearly showed Pirelli’s progress. Last year the teams did not use Soft tires in this race and in the last Grand Prix they did it without Hard tires – the number of pit stops remained the same…
Mario Isola: “A shining race. It’s great to see how the race at Interlagos gives the fans such emotions year after year!
As expected, everything in the race depended on many factors: crashes, two safety car exits, a temperature drop of more than 10 degrees – the riders had to adapt with different strategies.
It was interesting to see how the settings of different machines affected the wear of the Soft and Medium tires. At the start of the race, the Soft tires allowed for more than 25 laps, even on cars with a lot of fuel, and the Medium tires worked better in the second half of the distance, when the asphalt was covered with scrap rubber.
Congratulations to Mercedes and George Russell on his first Grand Prix victory in front of a fantastic Brazilian crowd.”
