Leo Turini: The atmosphere in the Ferrari is not normal

Leo Turini, a well-known Italian journalist, while analyzing the events of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, indicates that clouds seem to converge over Mattia Binotto, the head of the Ferrari team.

So many things to say! Let’s start with Mercedes’ historic return to the top step of the podium thanks to the efforts of George Russell – the team has been waiting all year for this. The Silver Arrows’ victorious double in São Paulo is a direct result of the famous FIA directive, but it’s not all about it.

Let’s move on. Speaking of Ferrari, Charles Leclerc is right to believe he lost his chances of success in Brazil due to the failed maneuver of Lando Norris, who fended off his attacks. Anyone who thinks otherwise does not understand what a “racing incident” is.

On the other hand, Leclerc was wrong when he asked on the radio for his partner to give him the position. Still, it’s not about the title, it’s just about the theoretical possibility of taking second place in the championship. Besides, I honestly don’t understand why Carlos Sainz, who was in the top three, would make such concessions to his partner.

At the same time, there is no doubt that the atmosphere in the Scuderia cannot be called normal. Of course I cannot vouch for the veracity of the rumors that Mattia Binotto is about to be fired, but they have been doing the rounds for over a week. I stand by the position that I have defended since time immemorial: whoever heads Ferrari’s racing division must enjoy the full and unconditional trust of the company’s management. If not, the game is over.

I think we will come back to this topic in the future.

It should be added that even if partners, no matter what team they play for, celebrate successes together, leaning on champagne and oysters, they never become real friends.

The way Max Verstappen behaved towards Sergio Perez is a classic example of a situation where someone believes that everything is allowed to them now. In other words, he believes the whole world is his domain.

Of course it was Verstappen who was responsible for the incident that occurred between him and Lewis Hamilton in the early stages of the race. This means this: If these two are again in dispute for wins and for the title in 2023, we could find ourselves in a situation where you will inevitably think: should Michael Masi be sent back? I don’t approve of this though…
