Haas officially confirmed on Thursday the end of the collaboration with Mick Schumacher after the end of the season. Speaking to reporters in Abu Dhabi, the German driver said he was already looking at opportunities to return to Formula 1.
Mick Schumacher: “Of course I’m disappointed with the team’s decision, because I thought I did well. On the other hand, the team chose a different path and I have to respect their decision.
Now I focus completely on the future. I absolutely want to stay in Formula 1 and now I have time to explore all options and hopefully choose the right one that will bring me a bright future. I want to understand what suits me better – the role of a bookkeeper or participation in other series – everything needs to be analyzed and discussed. I am surrounded by people I trust and with whom I will consult. I hope to be able to announce the news soon.
There were ups and downs all season, but more importantly, I was on an upward trend. I have only spent the second season in Formula 1. As for last year, I don’t know if it can be considered a full season because it turned out to be very difficult and we were always in the last places.
This year we started fighting for positions in the middle of the pack and I feel like I reached the maximum in every situation. I think I’ve progressed.”
