Before the season finale, Valtteri Bottas is in tenth place in the championship, between Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, and in the constructors’ championship, the Alfa Romeo team is fighting Aston Martin for sixth place, which is very important for them.
The Finnish rider believes the season has gone well, although the team’s results were affected by technical issues, but hopes to perform well in Abu Dhabi.
Valtteri Bottas: “I think the season as a whole went well. I think this is a very positive moment as our team has made an important step forward this year. After all, if we compare the results with those of the previous two seasons, our company is doing much better now.
We have earned a lot of points, had a lot of good races, although we have to admit that the problems are still there and are mainly related to the reliability of the car. But it only motivates us to achieve more next year.
All this creates an optimistic mood and I really hope for a confident performance in Abu Dhabi, because it is very important for the team that it takes 6th or 7th place in the Constructors’ Championship. So far we are only five points ahead of Aston Martin, but in our own way it is good that we went into the season finale with a clear understanding of the tasks ahead.
Both I and everyone on our team are confident that we are capable of accomplishing these tasks. I think everyone who works at the base in Hinwil and here at Yas Marina circuit deserves it.”
