Collective photos are different, for example, we are used to the fact that at the beginning and at the end of the season, all riders from all teams gather on the starting field, so that official photos reminiscent of a given year’s World Cup remain in history.
But yesterday all the drivers competing in Formula 1 in 2022 gathered for another reason, which of course also deserved to be immortalized. Sebastian Vettel is ending his career and so Hakkasan restaurant, one of the best restaurants in Abu Dhabi, hosted a special dinner under the motto “Thank you Seb!”
However, not only will the four-time world champion say goodbye to Formula 1 this weekend, next year we will not see Daniel Ricciardo and Nicholas Latifi on the starting field and yesterday Haas F1 confirmed that they would not renew the contract with Mick. Schumacher. The joint ride to the restaurant of all twenty riders is therefore all the more symbolic, even if everyone who leaves will appear in the paddock in one way or another next year.
Many of the pilots left short comments on social networks after dinner, noting that they had a very sincere time on Thursday night. Here are just a few:
Pierre Gasly: “Wonderful evening, great conversations, wonderful and close company! Congratulations to Sebastian Vettel!”
Lando Norris: “The best moment of 2022 dedicated to Sebastian!”
Guanyu Zhou: “Great night with the boys, good laughs!”
George Russell: “Amazing evening with everyone as we celebrate Sebastian’s final race!”
Finally, you can quote Carlos Sainz’s comment, which can be translated as follows: “All decent racers, but as people they are even better. It was fun!”
