Robert Schwartzman worked out the first practice in Abu Dhabi at the wheel of a Ferrari, replacing Carlos Sainz. The young rider completed 24 laps and set the seventh fastest time.
Summarizing on Friday, the Scuderia’s leading racers noted the high speed of their rivals, but added that the car has the potential to add.
Charles Leclerc (3e): “In general, the training went well. We had speed issues due to the rubber degradation, but that was to be expected. The pace of qualifying turned out to be a little better, but apparently the rivals are one step ahead. In Saturday practice we will try to make further progress and give our best in the last qualifying session of the season.”
Carlo Sainz (6th): “I had an exciting second practice session after missing the first session. It was important to make up for lost time and find the rhythm as quickly as possible. I have a good feeling on track, but I know we have the potential to improve tomorrow. I’m looking forward to the last qualifier of the season.”
Robert Schwartzman (7th in the first session): “Training went well and I’m happy with the progress made. It’s nice to finish the session with the seventh fastest time – I was comfortable in the car and we completed the planned program without problems completed At the very beginning, we tested new elements that will help further development, and the team was satisfied with the information gathered.
I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel on Tuesday for a full day of testing. I look forward to making further progress and gaining more experience behind the wheel of a car of this generation. Thank you Ferrari for the great opportunity.”
