Alpine finished fourth in the Constructors’ Championship

In a bitter battle with McLaren, the Alpine team managed to take fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship…

Esteban Ocon (7th): “First of all, congratulations to all the team members – on track and at base at Enstone – on fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship. Behind a long and busy season, and I’m glad we reached the target set at the start of the year.

If we talk about today’s race, seventh place is a great result. If I did one more lap I could finish the race in sixth as I was overtaking Lando Norris at the end.

I enjoyed two seasons with Fernando Alonso and wish him all the best next year. He will always be a legend to this team and our sport and I look forward to taking him on track next season. It’s time to rest before we go back to work to prepare for next season.”

Fernando Alonso (retirement): “Unfortunately, the race ended with retirement for me again today, although before that I was sure I could earn points.

It is important for the team to maintain fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship – that was the goal before the start of the weekend. Thanks to all employees for what we have achieved. After this race I will leave the team, but I will always remember this time positively. I spent nine years of my life with this team and won two championships in the past when it was still called Renault and I wish them all the best for the future.”

Otmar Safnauer, team boss: “First of all, congratulations to everyone in the BWT Alpine F1 team on the fantastic performance of fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship. This is the goal we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year and we have rightly achieved the desired result, demonstrating high competitiveness and regularly earning points.

We’ve had ups and downs, but it’s all part of our journey. The team continues to learn, grow and develop.

I want to thank Fernando for his efforts during the campaign, for performances that we will always remember. We wish Alonso all the best for the future.”
