Jost Capito: We wish Latifi the best of luck with everything

Williams drivers did not earn any points in Abu Dhabi. Alex Albon finished 13th and Nicholas Latifi retired due to electrical problems…

Josh Capito, team leader: “I want to thank all the employees of our team, on the track and in the base. The year turned out to be difficult and stressful, but each of us did everything possible.

We can be proud of the progress during the season and the points earned. Tenth place is not the result we were aiming for, we are already fully focused on preparing for the 2023 season. On Tuesday we participate in the tests of young drivers, so the team has no time for rest.

Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you to Nicholas Latifi for his three years of work in the team. He will always be part of the Williams family and we wish him the best of luck in all his endeavours.”

Alex Albon (13th): “I’m really happy with my race today and a great start as I overtook four or five cars – it was great.

Tire wear hampered the race – they endured 15 laps and lost a lot of efficiency, so we were forced to make early pit stops, but to finish the race in 13th after starting from 19th is a good result.

This year the team has worked hard, we have done everything we can to improve the car, which was initially problematic. I am proud of our team. We know our weaknesses and made the most of our opportunities when problems arose, and when the conditions suited the car, we earned points. I hope we will build a better car next year.”

Nicholas Latifi (19th): “The incident with Mick Schumacher got in the way, and then there was an electrical problem and I had to stop.

Not that I wanted to finish my last race, but whatever. I am very grateful for the three years I spent in Formula 1 with Williams. I leave with the feeling that I wanted to achieve and achieve more, but in motorsport that doesn’t always work out. There have been ups and downs along the way, and many strong bonds and friendships that I will cherish.
