Leo Turini, a well-known Italian journalist, summarizes his season with his favorite Ferrari team and emphasizes how important it was to end the season with a good performance in the final Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
It is easy to say that the one who took second place is only the first of the losers. After all, that was Enzo Ferrari’s motto.
And yet there is a difference, Charles Leclerc would have finished the season, ahead of Sergio Perez or lost to him; would the Scuderia be higher than Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship or lower. And this was important not only to John Elkann, president of Ferrari, and Benedetto Vigny, the CEO of the company.
At the same time, it’s pretty clear that Ferrari isn’t in the best shape right now, which is frustrating, it’s worth remembering what hopes we all had in the spring, but in July they finally melted away.
The team made serious errors of judgment, there was always a risk that the engine would fail again due to technical reliability problems and probably everything has been said about the performance of the Scuderia strategists. And so on…
But that’s why it was very important to end the season with dignity: the most important thing is that everyone has hope so that we also turn our attention to 2023. I think about all this while waiting for some structural changes in the Scuderia, but also think about Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, as it is my duty to treat these two drivers with love. I hope you feel the same about them.
Let’s summarize briefly. After the first three Grand Prix’s, the season has not become at all what one could hope for. But it cannot be called a complete disaster either: after all, there were 4 victories and a dozen pole positions – already something, although this is not enough.
From an optimist’s point of view, this is a good start, while a pessimist will argue that nothing has changed, but has only gotten worse. In general, but everyone has something to talk about. In conclusion, I want to remind you of the classic saying: “Do not stoop to quarreling with fools, for there is a risk of becoming one yourself.”
