The Williams have signed Logan Sargent with Alex Albon next year.
At the end of the Formula 2 season, which ended in Abu Dhabi, Sargent scored enough points for a super license and becomes the first American in Formula 1 since 2015.
Josh Capito, team principal: “We are delighted to officially confirm Logan’s contract the day after his Formula 2 performance in Abu Dhabi earned him a superlicence. He will complete our outstanding driver line-up for 2023 by partnering with Alex Albon.
After becoming a student of our youth academy at the end of 2021, Logan was able to integrate into the team, worked on the simulator and followed four Friday training sessions. He had a great season in Formula 2 and we look forward to his further progress in Formula 1.”
Logan Sargent: “It is a great honor and a dream come true to drive in Formula 1 with Williams.
A huge thank you to all the staff at Williams Racing and Dorilton Motor Sports for supporting me from the day I first joined the team. Participation in the Williams Pilot Academy has given me a good basis to develop and prepare for the next step in my career.”
