During Friday’s second practice, Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto spoke about the challenges the Scuderia will face this weekend.
Mattia Binotto: “We have brought a lot of technical innovations to Barcelona, so there is a lot to check, test, gather more information, analyze and optimize the car in preparation for qualifying and the race.
On this track you always have to solve very difficult tasks, because in the last sector of the circle it is necessary that the rear part of the car works effectively, and in the first sector it is important to achieve equally good work from both the front and rear parts thereof.
So far the results are very compact and we have a lot to do. This is round six of the season, we already have an idea of how the new car works and we are using this knowledge to unleash the full potential of F1-75.
Of course we are already starting to compare our level of competitiveness with other teams – in this respect the Spanish weekend is very important. Perhaps this joining of forces won’t last all season, but it could be accompanied in several upcoming races.
The fact that the rivalry with Red Bull Racing is intensifying doesn’t make us nervous – we enjoy the battle, the fact that Ferrari is back in the lead after some difficult years. We know the rivals are very strong, but we can also win races, so the most important thing now is to fully focus on solving our own problems.”
