Haas F1 team drivers finished Friday’s practice in Barcelona midway through protocol and feel the VF-21 is generally capable of a normal pace. There were no unpleasant surprises, except that there was an oil leak on Kevin Magnussen’s car in the first session, but that was quickly rectified.
Kevin Magnussen (12th): “There was nothing unusual today, I believe we showed a pretty normal pace, both with a small fuel load and with full tanks. Let’s see if we can play a little longer as there is always the opportunity to make some improvements.
We’ll try to add a little bit more to get to the qualifying final tomorrow. It won’t be easy, but we’ll try.”
Mick Schumacher (10th): “The day was positive. I have already said that our car has great potential, and as for the innovations that other teams are introducing, their effectiveness has yet to be proven, and this is not always possible.
The mood is quite positive, I’m quite comfortable behind the wheel, besides there were different ideas, so I’m ready to fight. We have a good chance of a successful performance in qualifying.”
Gunther SteinerTeam Principal: “Apart from a small problem with Kevin’s car this morning, everything went well today.
During the first training session we did aerodynamic tests with Mick and both riders worked with the settings and we prepared normally for the second session, which turned out quite well.
Hopefully we will take another small step on Saturday, which will allow us to perform well in qualifying.”
