In 2022, Max Verstappen won fifteen races, setting a new Formula 1 record for the most wins in a season. Red Bull Racing head Christian Horner believes Max is performing at a level that is unattainable for others.
Christian Horner: “I believe that Max is performing at such a high level that no one else behind the wheel of the exact same car can repeat his performance in 2022. I have to congratulate Sergio Perez, he has had a great season, even if he had some bad luck like all our riders. However, he looked great in the races and always acted fairly. I’m sure he will return to wrestling next year.
Both our drivers had their best seasons in Formula 1. Max showed an excellent level and took another step forward in the twelve months since the first title. He won fifteen races and two sprints – when I first took charge of the team there were only 17 Grands Prix in the season. Just an incredible performance.
The team won seventeen stages, achieved a winning double five times. Our riders took first and third place in the individual standings, we won the Constructors’ Championship and earned over 750 points. We’ve already broken our own records and records in Formula 1. There were ups and downs during the season, but if you look at the whole picture the team has had an excellent year.
