Logan Sargent will make his F1 debut with Williams next season. British team leader Jost Capito understands that mistakes on the part of a young rider are inevitable at first, but he is willing to give Logan time to get comfortable.
Jost Capito: “We saw Logan making progress and decided midway through the season that if he scores enough points to get a super license it would be good for him to move to Formula 1 as soon as possible.
Logan will bring the youth to the team. Of course he has no experience, but I’m sure he will learn quickly. We should not have too high expectations for Logan, as Formula 1 is a much more difficult championship than any other series. We will give him the chance to adapt and make mistakes, but I am sure he will be very fast.
Sargent has improved noticeably in 2022. Our youth program helped him a lot – he didn’t just get better as a racer. He has improved his fitness, learned how to work with the press and is now ready for the next step in Formula 1. I am sure he has a bright future ahead of him.
I have no doubt that Logan will learn a lot from Alex Albon, and Alex will help him with this. I hope they will be very competitive during the season, and Logan will look at Alex’s level at least in qualifying. As for the races, it will take more time, and it will be great if our riders are performing at about the same level towards the end of the season.”
