Victor Marten took the lead on the last day of Formula 2 testing at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.
The defending champion Formula 3 champion set the fastest lap in the morning session in 1:35.908 seconds. During the day Campos driver Kush Maini was the fastest in 1:36.875 seconds.
Racers were not in the pits and started working on the track from the first minutes. The morning session was interrupted once by red flags due to an error by Oliver Berman. The Prema driver went off track in turn 13 and hit the protective Tecpro barriers. The car was not badly damaged and after some time Berman continued to work.
Five racers overcame the 50 lap mark and the greatest distance was driven by Frederic Vesti – 66 laps.
After an hour break, work on the track resumed. The riders worked on long stretches, but had to take two breaks due to red flags. Midway through the session, Zane Maloney retired after contact with the wall in turn 14.
Eleven minutes before time, the second red flags appeared. The reason was Roy Nissany, whose car stopped on the straight.
This season of Formula 2 is over. The drivers will then take the wheel in a three-day test in Bahrain, scheduled for February 14-16, 2023.
