In 2022, Lando Norris finished third at Imola, giving his team their only podium finish. The McLaren driver believes that this number of podiums in the season is not enough for him and for the team.
Lando Norris: “A podium finish always means something to me and to the team. One podium per season is not enough for us. If you finish in the top three once, you feel like you just got lucky. The rider wants to feel every time that he has rightly climbed onto the podium. Of course we deserved a podium in Imola, but if we talk about pure speed, we weren’t fast enough for a result like that.
Once is not enough for me. The team worked hard, but it’s all about the car that was at our disposal. We know we’ve had a very difficult season, with ups and downs. We were fast on some weekends, and some, like in Brazil, turned out to be some of the worst of the season.
The team still has a lot to understand and learn, but we need to take a step forward next year.”
