Pietro Fittipaldi has several years of experience working with Haas F1 as a reserve driver and the Brazilian even held two grands prix at the end of 2020, replacing the injured Roman Grosjean, but the chances of a first team place are almost nil.
Therefore, the 26-year-old Brazilian now plans to continue his career in the US IndyCar Championship, where he already gave his best in 2018 and 2021.
“I would love to move to IndyCar and spend a full season there,” Pietro told The Race. – We are trying to find such an opportunity, but in the first year we need money, and now we are looking for money to make it all possible.
I would have switched to this series last year, but we couldn’t find the budget we needed. There are very competitive teams in IndyCar and I would like to work with them, but first you have to secure full funding, and there are problems with that.
At least I have experience working with a small endurance racing team and together with them we started showing good results halfway through the season, including climbing to the podium. This team has doors open for me to play in the WEC next season.
I also have some interesting offers from some of the strong teams in the WEC, so if IndyCar doesn’t work I’ll move into endurance racing and combine that with Haas. But when I start driving in America, I will turn the page and focus completely on IndyCar.”
