The Red Bull Racing drivers lost in qualifying to Ferrari rivals, but expect to come back into the race with the better pace…
Max Verstappen (2nd): “Tomorrow I will start second – a good result, but a pity for the last attempt, in which I did not open DRS. I lost three or four tenths because of this and decided to break the circle. It was not possible to fight for pole, but I hope to recover tomorrow.
Ferrari cars are very fast, it will not be easy to beat them – in the morning they showed good speed over a long series of laps. Due to the heat, a lot of distance and a high race pace will determine the condition of the tires. Hopefully tomorrow I will be faster at the start and get ahead in the first corner.
Sergio Perez (5th): “In the last attempt we tried to improve by adjusting the settings, but the behavior of the car changed and I couldn’t do a clean lap.
Over the course of the whole weekend I had to fight with the car, I felt uneasy, we tried to change something, but today I couldn’t get it to work in a fast lap.
Not the best result, but we have a good race pace – tomorrow we will put pressure on our rivals. Tomorrow we have a long and hot race with serious tire wear – anything can happen, so even from fifth place there is a chance.
