Honda is hosting its traditional annual Honda Racing Thanks Day at Japan’s Motegi Circuit this weekend, and we’ve previously covered the event as drivers from the Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri teams are in attendance.
But it is worth adding that the management of the Japanese automaker has given the two-time world champion a very valuable gift for his success in Formula 1. This is a Honda NSX sports car in the latest Type S version, whose the keys had been personally handed over to Max by Koiji Watanabe, president of Honda Racing’s racing division.
“Great car and I’m very proud to receive such a gift! Thank you very much!” – Verstappen thanked, after which he drove a symbolic lap around the track in his new sports car.
Equipped with a 600 horsepower engine, the car will be produced in a limited edition of just 350 units, 300 of which will be sold under the Acura brand in the US, where Type S prices start at $171,000. There are no such cars at European car dealers, so Verstappen became the owner of a rather rare example.
