Gazzetta: Ferrari temporarily takes over Benedetto Vigna

The Italian press has been writing about the imminent dismissal of Mattia Binotto for two weeks, but Maranello is in no hurry to announce this, but on the contrary, they deny everything so far. The more time passes, the more different types of rumors are related to this, and there is no doubt that new ones will appear.

Gazzetta dello Sport assured again on Monday that Binotto would leave, it is just a matter of waiting for the corresponding press release from Maranello. Reportedly, the official reason for his resignation will be that he no longer feels confidence in the management of the company. According to an authoritative Italian newspaper, although the Scuderia won the race again this year, relations between Binotto and the company’s management have cooled some time ago.

As an indirect confirmation, the publication cites the following fact: after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, there were no negotiations between the top management of Ferrari and Binotto, and this indicates his isolation. As Binotto’s contract does not expire until the end of 2023, he will be compensated, but the amount and other terms have yet to be discussed.

According to Gazzetta, the duties of the head of Gestione Sportiva, Ferrari’s racing division, will be temporarily filled by general manager Benedetto Vigna, as Maranello has not yet decided on the candidacy of the future head of the Scuderia. On the one hand, Frederic Vasseur remains the main contender, on the other hand, the study of alternative options continues.
