Rumors of Mattia Binotto’s resignation as head of Ferrari have been circulating for quite some time. The Italian press named Frederic Vasseur as the main candidate for replacement, claiming that the decision in principle to fire Binotto had already been taken.
Ferrari, in turn, does not make any statements, giving rise to a new wave of rumours. For example, Italy’s La Stampa reported that Maranello is trying to negotiate with Ross Brown to lead the team.
At one time, the British specialist served as the technical director of the Scuderia and became one of the co-authors of numerous victories and titles of Michael Schumacher. Brown has been Formula 1’s general manager in recent years, but stepped down after the 2022 season.
At the same time, Frederic Vasseur remains the main candidate to replace Binotto. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, if appointed, Vasseur will change personnel policies at Ferrari and divide the team’s drivers into first and second numbers, which could be considered bad news for Carlos Sainz.
Charles Leclerc has had a good relationship with Frédéric for years. In 2016, Leclerc won the GP3 title as part of the ART team founded by Vasseur and in 2018, the Monegask experienced his debut season in Formula 1 under his leadership.
