In three days’ time, the Formula 1 teams will start training in Melbourne’s Albert Park, which is why AlphaTauri invited Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunode to share how they are building their work with engineers at the start of the race weekend.
Pierre Gasly: ”I report the primary information after the first training session – I tell about the condition of the track, whether it is good or bad. Secondly, I talk about the difficulties I encountered, for example, problems with balance, about our main weaknesses, to determine the priority areas of work.
But it’s just as important to reflect on the aspects where we do well. This allows us to evaluate the possibility of certain trade-offs while searching for settings.”
Yuki Tsunoda: “I usually start sharing information halfway through the first training session. Before that, in the first half of the session, I mainly focused on driving, trying to understand the behavior of the car, feel its characteristics and also study the track.
Then I start to attack more aggressively and then I can already share my impressions of the car with the engineers, because I start to feel that it prevents me from going faster. †
