Germany’s Audi and Porsche plan to enter Formula 1 in the 2026 season. At the moment, the Ingolstadt-based company, which was able to agree with Sauber, is closer to achieving this goal. Porsche continues to look for partners, but has not yet achieved much success.
The McLaren team was mentioned as a possible partner of Porsche, but leader Zach Brown said he was satisfied with the cooperation with Mercedes.
Zach Brown: “Obviously there are some benefits to being a factory team as the engineers have access to more information. However, we are very satisfied with the cooperation with Mercedes.
I am convinced that as a customer team we can win the title. I am sure that the engine in our cars is no different from the engine in Lewis Hamilton’s car. The power plants are exactly the same.
We have a long-term contract with Mercedes and we are very happy with the cooperation. I don’t see the need now to think about what will happen in 2026 and beyond.”
