IndyCar: Marcus Armstrong drives for Chip Ganassi Racing

In 2023, Marcus Armstrong moves to the American IndyCar Series and will drive for the Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) team, but only on road-type tracks and on city tracks.

The 22-year-old New Zealander raced in an IndyCar at Sebring for the first time in October, but then worked with another team, Dale Coyne Racing, but it was revealed on Friday night that Marcus had signed with CGR and would team up with Scott Dixon next year. , Marcus Erickson and Alex Palow.

The team of Chip Ganassi, a former racing driver and now a successful American entrepreneur, is expected to soon announce the name of another driver who will run car #11 on oval circuits.

Marcus Armstrong has raced in Formula 2 for the previous three seasons, taking four wins, three of them in 2022, and was also a student at the Ferrari Racing Academy from 2017 to the end of 2021.

Marcus Armstrong: “I’m excited to drive in IndyCar, and even Chip Ganassi Racing, because it’s such a legendary and successful team. This is a great opportunity for me to learn from people who work at the highest level in motorsport.

I’m a New Zealander and have always followed Scott Dixon’s performance as part of this team, so the upcoming partnership is particularly important to me. I can work hard, I try to get a little better every day and now I am very happy to take on a new challenge.”

Marcus’ first introduction to the team will take place next week in Indianapolis and his race debut will take place on the podium in St. Petersburg on March 5 next year.
