Michael Andretti said some progress has been made in recent months in the implementation of his Andretti Global project, the essence of which is the organization of a new Formula 1 team.
Most of the news about this project comes to the press through Mario Andretti, the father of Michael, the 1978 world champion, and he assures in all interviews that Andretti Global has all the necessary resources and meets all the requirements.
In the paddock, however, the attitude to this is ambiguous, Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, among others, made it clear that on the one hand, the organizers of the championship are ready for negotiations with potential candidates, on the other hand, such a project must meet special conditions: “The big question is whether the value of the World Cup will increase with the arrival of this team.”
In any case, the Andretti family is not giving up and, according to Michael, there are some steps in the right direction.
“We keep moving forward, we keep working hard,” The Race quoted him as saying. “I think we’ve made good progress in recent months – we’re not giving up.”
Andretti Global has really big plans: the base of the future team should be in the UK, Renault is believed to be the power plant supplier, and in the future teams from the F3 and F2 youth series could be organized as part of this project. However, the attitude towards all these projects in Formula 1 is still quite wary.
