Günter Steiner said Gene Haas, the owner of Haas F1, is not going to sell the team, although the interest of potential buyers is now very high, it suffices to mention Michael Andretti with his Andretti Global project.
Steiner was on the Beyond the Grid podcast and was asked if Gene Haas had plans to sell the Haas F1 to Andretti or anyone else.
“Since Formula 1 teams have risen in price and become interesting to everyone, he has no such plans,” replied the head of the US team. – Of course, if you asked him this question in 2019 or in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, he probably had a different opinion then.
But in 2020, there were no people willing to take over the team at all. They all appeared later. You understand, the same story is always repeated: when something works successfully, everyone has such ideas.
What can you say? Gene has invested in Haas F1, we started this project in 2014 and have been playing in the championship since 2016 when there was not much interest in Formula 1 teams.
I think in 2017 or 2018 you could buy a team for one pound, but nobody tried to do that. And now that the teams are worth a lot of money, everyone is shouting, “I want to buy a team!” But the world has changed, you know? So will Haas sell it now? Not”.
