Leonardo Fornaroli will switch to Formula 3 after one season in the European Formula Regional, where he will continue to drive for Trident in 2023.
The Italian has just turned 18 years old and has been racing single-seater cars since 2020, and his best achievement so far is a 3rd place in the F4 Central European Championship. Last season he made his Formula Regional debut – first in the Asian series with Hitech, then moved to Trident and together with the Italian team took 8th place at the end of the year.
Now Leonardo continues his career in F3 and his teammates are Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto and Oliver Goethe, a driver with dual German-Danish nationality, who lives in Monaco.
Leonardo Fornaroli: “I am delighted to continue my journey with Trident Motorsport after a successful season with this team in Formula Regional. I believe Trident is the best place to study and grow professionally, and I believe my debut with this team in F3 will open up great opportunities for me.
I want to thank team leader Maurizio Salvador for believing in me. I also want to thank my family, my coach and my sponsors for their support and help.”
Giacomo Ricki, Team Manager: “Leonardo Fornaroli is a promising young driver, there is no doubt about that and we are proud that he will be making his F3 debut with our team. The path he has traveled confirms the value of the work Trident Motorsport is doing to help young talent grow as they compete in the junior divisions and prepare for the move to Formula 1 in the future.”
