Magnussen: It is a great honor to receive the Lorenzo Bandini award

On Saturday evening in Faenza, at the Teatro Masini, a solemn ceremony took place in which Kevin Magnussen received the Lorenzo Bandini award.

We wrote about the fact that the Dane received this prestigious award in September, and now he has become the 25th driver to receive the now famous ceramic statue depicting the number 18 Ferrari car, which includes the Italian driver who was fatally injured in the Monaco Grand Prix in 1967.

True to tradition, Kevin arrived at the ceremony by car – an impressive Dallara Stradale sports car was chosen – in Piazza del Popolo he was met by an orchestra of trumpeters and drummers, and cheered by the fans, who, despite inclement weather, gathered in the hope to get an autograph and take a selfie with the Haas F1 driver.

Günther Steiner, head of the team Magnussen plays for, was also present at the ceremony.

“Haas are a small team by F1 standards and when we took pole in Brazil it was a huge satisfaction for everyone given how difficult it is to qualify in modern F1,” Kevin told the press. – My next goal is to be on the podium again after so many years.

If you rate the last season then I would give myself a 7 out of 10, also because it’s very hard to rate yourself. It is a great honor to receive the Lorenzo Bandini award. I remember the champions who have received this award before and I can’t explain why they gave it to me now, but I am very honored anyway.

Niko Hulkenberg will be my partner next season – I’ve never worked with him in the same team, but he’s obviously a great rider, very fast and physically well prepared. Niko is an experienced professional and has always proven this by performing at the highest level. I think all this will help us strengthen the team – I think we will work well with him.
