Leo Turini on two Ferrari problems

The veteran Italian journalist Leo Turini commented in his characteristic mind on the unfortunate results of the Spanish Grand Prix for Ferrari

Ferrari has two problems.

I hope the first one isn’t too serious, because there could be some technical problems, we saw that recently with the example of Red Bull.

Of course, this is only true if the reason for the power plant failure on Charles Leclerc’s car is exceptional.

But so far the impression has been that Maranello didn’t even turn the engine completely, and so far the Ferrari engineers have been really calm. While of course, judging by the fans’ reaction, everyone was gravely alarmed, this can be ignored for now, as we all imagine ourselves as experts in technical matters and ready to give advice to team management.

The second problem has a first and last name.

Carlos Sainz.

He still fails on normal starts. He misjudged the influence of the wind and let the flight go off the runway. Okay, the same story happened to Verstappen too.

But if Leclerc’s Ferrari was capable of a fast pace until Charles retired, Carlos should have kept up with his partner. During the race, however, he did not claim the podium at all.

Formula 1 is the sport of complete egoists. The partner is your main rival. All this is so. Therefore Sainz should at least do what Perez does i.e. at least grumble, but he tries to avoid talking about problems.

PS If Leclerc’s car hadn’t broken down, and if Verstappen’s DRS system had worked properly, the Mercedes drivers would have lost too many of the front runners again.
