Prema team debutant Oliver Bierman took the lead on the first day of Formula 3 testing in Jerez in mixed weather.
In the south of Spain it was cold and windy in the morning, it was raining and the riders confined themselves to the installation circle to make sure everything was okay with the cars. Then things started to improve again – and the protocol was led by the brother of the Ferrari driver Arthur Leclerc.
It rained again between sessions, so the start of the second was the same as the start of the first – nobody wanted to leave.
The asphalt started to dry out, in the last half hour the riders were able to ride on slicks – and Leclerc’s morning result was blocked. Oliver Birman drove the Prema in 1:33.009.
Testing was interrupted by red flags only once, when Cayo Colle stopped at turn four, causing red flags to appear.
There will be further testing tomorrow.
