Former Ferrari Formula 1 driver Patrick Tambe has died aged 74, according to the racing series’ website.
The French runner suffered from Parkinson’s disease.
Tambe in the mid-1970s became the winner of European Formula 2, he made his debut in Formula 1 in 1977. He played for teams Theodore, McLaren, Ligier, Renault, Haas, Ferrari, in which he replaced Gilles Villeneuve, who died at the Belgian Grand Prix. In the “royal races” the pilot won two victories, stood on the podium 11 times, scored 103 points. His best result in Formula 1 was fourth in the 1983 season. Additionally, Tambe participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race.
