In 2023, six race weekends will be held in sprint format on Saturday. The Formula 1 committee proposes to increase the amount each team can spend on each sprint.
Last season, each team could deduct $150,000 from the total cost for each sprint, and another $100,000 could be used to repair damage to the car. These amounts were not taken into account in the budget constraints and in 2023 the numbers will increase.
According to RacingNews365, next year each team will be eligible to deduct $400,000 for each sprint, i.e. $2.4 million per season. In fact, this means that it is officially possible to exceed the budget limit by such an amount.
The proposed amendments will enter into force after approval by the World Council, but as a rule this will only be a formality.
