After winning the Formula 2 championship title, Felipe Drugovic joined Aston Martin’s youth program and became reserve driver for the British team. In an interview with PlanetF1, the Brazilian spoke about the challenges for the upcoming season.
Felipe Drugovic: “The decision on the contract came during the weekend in Zandvoort [в начале сентября]when it became clear that there were no vacancies for the chief pilot position in Formula 1. Realizing that I would not be able to race next year, we chose the best option left: a contract with Aston Martin.
Then I drove three hundred kilometers behind the wheel of an old car during tests at Silverstone, worked on Friday free races – it’s a great experience. And I am happy that Fernando Alonso will be one of the team’s drivers in 2023. He treats me well, I hope to learn a lot from him.
The main goal for the coming year is to gain as much experience as possible. I will travel with the team, learn everything from them. The best training is track driving, but I will take part in briefings, help with the development of the car. We want the Aston Martin youth program to really work, I became the first participant and I really want this too.”
