This season, Robert Schwartzman worked as a reserve driver for Ferrari, but did not race. In an interview with Autosprint, he said his program will be different next year – he wants to race in a different series but keep in touch with the Formula 1 paddock.
Robert Schwartzman: “I have several options for 2023. I have received a number of proposals, let’s see what happens in the end.
I would like to race actively, but not lose touch with the Formula 1 paddock. My dream is to get into Formula 1 and I want to remain in the role of reserve driver to help the team develop the car – this is very interesting. But my main goal is to go back to racing and play in another championship.
In 2021 I finished the Formula 2 season in second place, only behind Piastri. Of course the title would have helped me a lot, but for some reason it was not possible to put everything together and Oscar had a perfect season. You can’t say I wasn’t competitive – just too many things went wrong in decisive moments. You must learn this lesson.
Now I am completely focused on my present and future.”
