This season Daniel Ricciardo finished in the top ten in just two races, earning 11 points against partner Lando Norris’s 39. After finishing the race in Barcelona, McLaren boss Zack Brown acknowledged that the Australian’s performance fell short of the team’s expectations.
Zach Brown: “Lando definitely has an edge over his partner. Of course we want Daniel to be much closer to Norris and for our riders to battle each other. Daniel is still not comfortable in the car. We try to do everything we can, but last weekend’s result was disappointing.
With the exception of last year’s Monza and some other races, our partnership did not meet Daniel’s expectations, nor our expectations. I believe we have to keep working as a team and keep attacking in the hope that at some point we will succeed. I hope it happens soon.”
