After retiring from Formula 1, 2016 world champion Nico Rosberg continued to make regular appearances in the paddock as a television pundit. However, in 2022, Niko commented on British and German Sky remotely from his apartment in Monaco.
As it turned out later in the summer, Rosberg was banned from the paddock because he refused to be vaccinated against Covid-19. The former racer explained his reluctance to vaccinate by the fact that he had a coronavirus and had antibodies in his blood.
The day before, the FIA World Council approved new covid rules, relaxing the requirements. Proof of vaccination is no longer required and there will be no coronavirus testing centers on racetracks. Nico Rosberg can return to the Formula 1 paddock next season.
The FIA counts on the notoriety of the championship participants. Anyone showing symptoms should test themselves for Covid-19 and, if positive, quarantine. Access to the paddock is closed to the sick, this requirement also applies to riders.
