Formula E: McLaren held the car’s first run-in

The McLaren Formula E Team has performed a first run-in of the car in preparation for the upcoming official test in Valencia. The run-in took place on an old but well-equipped track in Bicester, not far from the team’s base.

“It was the first day that the whole team was fully assembled,” says René Rast, who returns to Formula E after missing a season. – We have everything ready and it was very nice to be in the garage in the morning appear and see the car in full wartime paint.

It’s also nice to chat with the whole team: a long preparation period behind us, but now everyone is eager to take on the battle. Although I wasn’t driving at maximum speed for the first few laps, the impressions were good. It was important to feel the characteristics of the new car and to dive into the working atmosphere together with the team.

I hope that the first tests will be successful and I also want to believe that the first race weekend will also end well.”

“I was delighted to get to know the car for the first time,” confirmed Jake Hughes, Rast’s partner. “We’ve checked everything, everything works well – the team has done a great job putting this car together, getting it ready for testing and now I’m looking forward to the upcoming tests in Valencia.”

The pre-season testing, taking place from December 13 to 16, will bring together all 11 teams of the World Electric Car Racing Championship, and McLaren is one of three new or significantly updated Formula E teams formally entering its debut season. McLaren is based on the former Mercedes works team, Maserati is based on the Venturi and DS Penske is the former Dragon Penske.
