We talked about yesterday’s Red Bull race show in Milton Keynes – according to the team, about 30,000 residents of this British city gathered to watch it, which is about 12% of the local population. A good indicator, especially considering that the weather was quite cool, +5 maximum.
Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez made two runs on the improvised track, but not everything went smoothly. At one point, when the two-time world champion was spinning donuts, not only did rubber smoke on the RB7 show car: a slight fire broke out in the area of the left side pontoon, an open flame appeared, but Max calmly drove to the “boxes”, where the fire was immediately extinguished.
They say it even amused the Red Bull Racing mechanics and had no impact on the show’s schedule.
“It was a lot of fun, it’s great to see so many people came to support us despite the cold weather. Our fans are simply the best! said Verstappen. – Red Bull Racing has been based in Milton Keynes since 2005, but I was still a boy then. Overall, it’s great that we can somehow pay back to this city by putting on shows like this.
We are happy to be so actively supported here and preparations for next year have already started, because we have to take on a new challenge. We know that the team can handle this next test, although of course the opponents are working hard to beat us. But they don’t have the support we feel.”
Sergio Perez, who took third place at the end of the championship, added: “Everything went great, it was nice to see everyone and arrange something for the fans because a lot of time has passed since the last similar show .
Also the day before, Max and I visited the team base, where we took pictures with the Red Bull Racing staff, discussed our mutual performance, and again this was a very memorable event. Next year I am determined to give everything for high results, but in the meantime I wish you all a nice winter holiday.”
