McLaren has confirmed the appointment of Andrea Stella as Formula 1 CEO and team leader, replacing Andreas Seidl, who will continue his career with the Sauber Group.
Andrea Stella joined McLaren in 2015, where he has been racing director for the past few years. He started his career in Formula 1 at Ferrari in the group of racing engineers Michael Schumacher. Stella later worked as a race engineer for Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso.
Zak BrownMcLaren Racing CEO: “I am delighted that Andrea Stella is taking over as team principal and will lead our technical and operational program for Formula 1.
Andrea is an incredibly talented, experienced and respected member of the team who has achieved great success in Formula 1. His appointment as head is a great example of the strength of our team. I am happy to be working more closely with him and he will lead us to higher positions on the grid and race wins.
I really enjoyed working with Andreas. He led the team very well and played an important role in our progress to the top. I am grateful to him for his openness, which gave us time to find a replacement for him.”
Andrew Stella: “I am honored to take on the role of team leader in the next phase of my career at McLaren. I am grateful to Zach and the shareholders for their trust, as well as all of my colleagues who have supported me throughout my career.
We are realistic about the amount of work ahead, but I am excited and excited to start it with a team that has so many talented, experienced and dedicated employees who love to race. I look forward to working with everyone, including Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, to achieve success together.”
Andreas Seidl: “I joined McLaren in 2019 and have enjoyed working with Zach and the team. Together we achieved good results and I have good memories, and the victory in Monza was the biggest success of my career.
The team is on the rise and I want to thank everyone for their support and trust. Thanks to Zach and the shareholders for understanding my personal decision to leave to take on a new challenge. I wish Andrea and the team all the best for the future.”
