Last month, three Formula 1 teams announced the resignation of the head: Mattia Binotto, Jost Capito and Frederic Vasseur leave Ferrari, Williams and Alfa Romeo respectively. Edition Racingnews365, citing its sources, claims that another layoff will be announced in the near future – at McLaren.
Current Woking team principal Andreas Seidl will step down and take up a similar position at Alfa Romeo, replacing Frederic Vasseur. Such a transition is linked to the Swiss team’s collaboration with Audi, which will be the new supplier of the team’s power plants from 2026.
Seidl already has experience in the Volkswagen Group racing programs and led the Porsche works team to three Le Mans victories between 2015 and 2017. In addition, Andreas has a good relationship with Audi’s chairman of the board of directors, Markus Duismann – they both worked at Sauber in the first half of the 2000s, when the team was owned by BMW.
It is not yet known who will replace Andreas Seidl at McLaren, but Jost Capito is not applying for this vacancy.
