Red Bull Racing won the Constructors’ Championship meaning they can work less in the wind tunnel than rivals, and the fine for breaching budget restrictions will reduce testing time in the tunnel and on CFD computers by a further 10%. But team technical director Adrian Newey thinks it can do no harm to Red Bull Racing.
Adrian Newey: “Because of the smaller amount of testing in the wind tunnel, we will be able to check less details.
less different ideas, but if we play smart and only test the right parts, then this difference won’t matter much.
It is clear that Ferrari will try to make full use of all possible time. They look for their weaknesses. They had some reliability issues, they made some mistakes on the pit wall. It is clear that they will return to battle in even better shape.
Mercedes will certainly add. They started the season with a car that was seriously inferior in speed, made every effort to develop it over the season – and won the winning double on the penultimate stage. We know they will fight next year. With us since the first Grand Prix, so we are going to have a very difficult season.”
