Wolff: Slow corners don’t suit our car

Mercedes head Toto Wolff summarized the results of the Barcelona race and spoke about the expectations attached to the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix.

Toto Wolff: “Last weekend we saw an exciting Spanish Grand Prix that inspired us all. Every time on track we continue to study and improve the car – in Barcelona the team took a good step forward in the right direction.

It’s fantastic that George fought the Red Bull drivers – he deserved a podium. Lewis broke from 19th to 5th, which was also incredibly impressive.

Now you need to quickly switch to the next race. Nothing compares to the brilliance of Monaco – a real pleasure to watch the drivers attack the limit in the narrow streets.

The track is unique and incredibly difficult – in every lap the riders have to be extremely concentrated. In Monaco we were not always lucky, but in Barcelona we were convinced that slow corners are not the strongest side of our car this season. However, this year we have already seen that anything can happen, so we will strive to take every opportunity.”
