Team boss Mike Krak said Aston Martin is ready to invest in young drivers. The primary task is to prepare the team’s reserve driver, Felipe Drugovic, for Formula 1.
“Let’s see what our development program will be next year,” Racingnews365 is quoted as saying by Mike Krak. “Maybe we will organize tests for Felipe behind the wheel of last year’s car, as was the case with Oscar Piastri or Lance Stroll a few years ago.
Perhaps Drugovic will participate in training on Friday. We want to explore all options to understand which ones to implement. At the moment we have a clear goal to prepare Felipe for racing.
In addition to Drugovich, Aston Martin has another backup pilot – Stoffel Vandorn. Aston Martin wants to have a choice of drivers if one of the most important cannot get behind the wheel.
“We don’t divide our reservations into numbers one and two,” Krak continues. – Both have obligations next to us next season. Stoffel will continue to compete in Formula E, I believe Felipe will also race somewhere.
