Marc Genet: Vasseur’s appointment will benefit Ferrari

Marc Genet, a former Formula 1 driver who has worked with Ferrari for many years as a test driver and brand ambassador, yesterday took part in a conference in Madrid dedicated to innovative ideas in the field of ecology, organized by Santander Bank and El Pais newspaper.

Of course, during communication with the press, he was asked to comment on news related to Ferrari, as well as the results of the past season.

“Frédéric Vasseur, the new team principal, has a wealth of experience in Formula 1, but also has a lot of engine knowledge,” said Genet. – He is closely linked to the world of motorsport, and all this will benefit Ferrari. He will help the Scuderia in their attempts to win the title, which has eluded us so far.

This year Ferrari started very well, leading in both championship standings, then we started to struggle, but still we finished the season in second place and managed to get ahead of one of the two Red Bull cars. The results are not bad, but they are not as good as we would like, because all other results, except wins, do not match our goals, that is the nature of Ferrari.

If we have the same fast car next year as in 2022, we can fight for the title. Last season Ferrari took more pole positions than any other team, which shows that the F1-75 is a good car. The 2023 chassis will be designed by the same team. But on race weekends the team has to be more efficient and correct.”

Since Genet is Spaniard and he spoke to the Spanish press, the accents were placed accordingly: “I hope the car will enable Carlos Sainz to win races and fight for the championship. I would like to believe that Fernando Alonso will also have a competitive car at his disposal.
