Richard Fershhor will spend his third season in Formula 2 with Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR): his contract with the Dutch team was announced today, when he turned 22 years old. Last season he played for Trident and finished the championship on the 12th line of the individual ranking.
He started the season with a win, won the Saturday sprint in Bahrain and finished on the podium just four times, including the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
Richard Fershhor: “I am very happy to return to Formula 2 in 2023 and it is very nice that I will do this together with the VAR. It’s especially nice that I can announce this on my 22nd birthday. I learned a lot last season so I have a confident attitude for the next championship.
Since working with the VAR after the end of the testing season in Abu Dhabi, I immediately felt that the team is focused on further progress and that suits me very well.
It’s an interesting year ahead, but I’m most looking forward to the race in Melbourne, and I’m not talking about Zandvoort at all. The season is going to be exciting and I’m ready.”
Last season marked Van Amersfoort Racing’s F2 debut, with drivers Amaury Kordil and David Beckman performing well in Part 2, earning points in seven of the last eight rounds, but ultimately finishing 10th in the team standings.
The name of the pilot who will partner Richard Fershhor in 2023 is expected to be announced soon.
