Who can lead the Williams team?

Jost Capito led the Willams team for two years and things started to change for the better under him, but a few days ago it was announced that the German manager would be leaving his post.

Unlike the personnel changes at Ferrari, McLaren and Sauber Group, it is not yet clear in the case of Williams who will now lead the Grove team, but of course all kinds of rumors have already been circulated.

We quoted Ralf Schumacher’s opinion, who thinks it will be someone from Williams management, but there are other versions. According to Speedweek, Susie Wolff, the wife of the head of the Mercedes team, is among the possible candidates without citing any source.

First, she is a former racer and once worked with Williams for four years, including as a test pilot, so she knows the team well; second, Susie has been the head of Venturi Racing (now Maserati), the Formula E team, since 2018, so she also has quite a bit of leadership experience.

Another candidate for a responsible position is Jenson Button, the 2009 world champion, who made his Formula 1 debut with the Williams team more than 20 years ago and has been working with her as an advisor since 2021.

Of course, the names of the real contenders are known only to Williams’ current owners, Dorilton Capital investors. Who they will choose will be known soon enough, because there are just over two months left before the start of pre-season testing in Bahrain, which should be preceded by the presentation of a new car, and it is hard to imagine it can succeed without a team leader.
